HERSTORY

GREATER SERVICE, GREATER PROGRESS

Logo1 (1).png

Rho Sigma Detroit Alumnae Chapter was chartered in 1936 by five members: Soror Evelyn Dennis, Soror Millie Henson, Soror Yolanda Maddox, Soror Christine Smith, and Dr. Rosa Slade Gragg. This formed the legacy that now expands to hundreds of graduate sorors in Metro-Detroit. Rho Sigma supports several undergraduate chapters, the Philo Affiliates, a Rhoer Club, and a Rhosebud Club. Rho Sigma continues to be a force and a trendsetter within its community by participating in regular service and civic engagement activities.

MESSAGE FROM THE BASILEUS

Greetings, and welcome to the official website of the RHOmarkable Rho Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated!

It is truly an honor to serve as Basileus of a chapter with a rich legacy of sisterhood, scholarship, and service in the Detroit community. I am grateful for the Sorors who have paved the way before us and excited to continue building upon the strong foundation they established.

Rho Sigma remains committed to living our motto, “Greater Service, Greater Progress,” through meaningful service, community partnerships, youth initiatives, and genuine sisterhood.

Whether you are a Soror looking to reconnect, a community partner, a prospective member, or simply visiting to learn more about us, we are glad you are here. I invite you to explore our website, learn more about our work, and connect with the RHOmarkable women of Rho Sigma.

We look forward to continuing to serve Detroit and the surrounding communities while building our legacy together.

In Greater Service,

Dr. Carlotta Prince, Basileus
